August 2011
Dear Parents, Guardians, and Students,
I am pleased to welcome you to the 2011-2012 school year. Welcome in a special way to all of our new families. The theme for Catholic School Week this year is Catholic Schools – Faith. Academics. Service. This theme according to the National Catholic Education Association:
Focuses on three priorities that Catholic schools establish that make them stand out from other educational institutions. Children are taught faith – not just the basics of Christianity, but how to have a relationship with God. Academics, which in Catholic schools are held to very high standards, help each child reach his or her potential. Service, the giving of one’s time and effort to help others, is taught both as an expression of faith and good citizenship. (www.ncea.org)
Here at St. Michael School our first priority is to partner with you the parents to enrich the faith life of your child through prayer, Mass, reception of the sacraments and religious education. We hold each student to high academic standards. Service is an important component of our community life. Students are encouraged to participate in the various service projects throughout the year. “Whatsoever you do to the least of my brothers and sisters you do to me.”
The faculty and I look forward to partnering with you in the education of your child or children. We look forward to another rewarding year for you and your family. May Saint Michael the Archangel, our patron saint, watch over your families and protect and guide you throughout this school year.
God bless,
Sister Therese Elizabeth Bauer
