First Grade  Updated 2/20/12      

Homework:  Each night the student should read for 10 minutes, please ask your child some comprehension questions to check for understanding and listen for fluency.  Practice addition and subtraction facts to 12 for 10 minutes each night for memorization.  Practice spelling words for a few minutes each night to prevent “cramming” the night before the test (the practice test should have very few errors).       

 Tuesday:    Write your spelling words once-then a second time from memory in your homework journal.  Complete the math page taped in your journal. 

Wednesday:   Take a practice spelling test in your journal, write each word you missed 3x each.  Complete the math page taped in your journal.  

 Thursday: Study for spelling test tomorrow-take a practice test in your homework journal.  Complete the math page taped in your homework journal.   

   Share:  No share this week due to short week and two Masses.

Students earn a sticker on the monthly calendar taped inside the take-home folder for each day the rules are followed.  Please check the calendar each day and let your child know how pleased you are when a sticker is earned.  Please take time to discuss what rule your child had trouble with if a sticker was not earned and make a plan to earn a sticker the next time.
